On the Lot – American Idol for filmmakers
 Filed under: Thoughts

As Warren Hsu Leonard just wrote in his blog Steven Spielberg will make a show like American Idol for filmmakers. With this fresh and unprecedented idea 16 finialists will be divided in two groups and each of them has to produce a short film each week.

I just don´t get why this concept is so popular, is it that interesting to watch ambitious (wannabe) artists beeing insulted and drilled by arrogant judges? Well, it must be, after all theses shows are repeated over and over again in different countries.

Well, of course the fact that this is a great chance to get famous is a huge argument for young filmmakers / singers / models / whatever. It is a narrow path between a mainstream artist who is told what to do and an independet artist who has to struggle with a lack of fame (and money), perhaps these shows aren´t that bad, but let me state this again – i hate them.

  1. I loved the top 5 American idol group song last night. It was a pity to see Aaron Kelly got rid of however I do believe the other contestants were better singers so he had to go!

  2. Edyth Stroub says:

I understand American Idol winner Lee has just signed up to RCA records. Cannot wait to hear his upcoming album.

  3. Marcelo Rody says:

I consider Donald Trump would be a better American Idol judge than Harry Connick Jr. – Trump is not at all afraid to say what he thinks plus can be as outspoken as Simon Cowell.
